Gen is the Markdown of music notation: easy to learn, easy to read, and runs anywhere. Write F# for F sharp, ^C for high C, one line per measure. No complex syntax - just music.

Features

Simple Syntax

Notes are just letters: C D E F G A B. Add rhythm with / for eighths, p for halves. That’s it.

Chords & Harmony

Write chords with (C E G) and add lead sheet symbols with {Cmaj7}.

Multi-Part Scores

Write for ensembles with @part:trumpet, @part:trombone. Automatic transposition included.
